Coldplay vient juste de sortir son dernier clip issu de leur chanson ''paradise''. Et devinez ou sont ils partis le tourner ? Sur les terres sud africaines ! Avec une mise en scène sublime et des images à couper le souffle. Sans parler du côté fun avec l'éléphant à la fois émouvant et drôle qui se balade à travers le pays...

Voilà un festival de dingue. Incontournable pour les fans de musique.

Le "Where Blues Meets Rock" Festival dans le Gauteng. Accrochez vous, ce festival réunit 17 des plus grands groupes Sudafricains dans une immense ferme, camping gratuit et "Gros son". Situé parfaitement entre le Gauteng et le Mpumalanga.

“Night Sessions” is a generously filled 15-track CD of timeless gems, recorded and produced by Duncan Mackay at Down South Recording.
Listeners are taken on a journey inspired by songs of love, loss and hope. Both artists are known for performing across genres. On this disc they have focused on ballads and jazz standards, reworking them to create a new easy listening experience.

Says Louise : “Our aim is to tell the story of each song with honesty and beauty.”

Jeudi 16 Septembre  Concert  Derek Gripper et la chanteuse Xhosa  Madosini

Cape Town guitarist Derek Gripper is a solo performer of new music from the Western Cape of South Africa. His intimate and virtuosic style of guitar playing evokes the "the imagery and mystery of the rural areas of the Cape" by merging the techniques of classical guitar with the guitar styles of Africa and South America . “A unique insight into South Africa and its music,” Gripper’s music continues in a tradition which began when two musicians met on a small farm called Sagtevlei to work on connections between new classical composition and the music of the Cape . This marked the beginning of an eight year collaboration between Alex van Heerden and Derek Gripper, and was the the birth of a music which, in the words of van Heerden, “is impossible to play if you don’t believe in magic.”  Since Alex’s passing early in 2009 Derek has continued to share this new approach to making Cape music in his numerous recordings. 

Madosini, The Queen of Xhosa Music, is undoubtedly one of the most important figures in Xhosa music today. She continues to expand on the traditional repertoire of her chosen instruments by composing new songs and instrumental pieces.  

Madosini was born in a village called Mqhekezweni, about 10 km west of Umtata in the Eastern Cape . While she was still young her family moved to the Libode district in eastern Mpondoland. Taught by her mother, Madosini began playing, composing songs, and making instruments at an early age. Her skills on instruments could be heard at social gatherings and she was loved by all. When she was 12 Madosini fell ill and spent much of her time making and playing instruments, developing a love for music which has stayed with her throughout her life. Her first commercial recording came when a film crew paid her R8 to record eight songs. Mysteriously some of these songs began being heard on commercial radio and in music stores in other parts of the country many years later, but Madosini was never compensated. Eventually Madosini’s renown caught the attention of Dizu Plaaitjies, leader of Amapondo, who eventually persuaded Madosini to join his group which she performed with in many parts of the world.

Her music can be described as a unique and exciting blend of Sophiatown, African gospel, R&B and Motown. There is the spirit of Miriam Makeba, the vocal power of Tina Turner and the wildness of Brenda Fassie.

Cape Town can prepare itself for a major tour de force on Thursday night 29 April, when emerging international Afro-soul star Nomfusi will give a 70-minute power packed performance at the Alliance Francaise.

She will be joined by her 6-piece band, The Lucky Charms, as well as a dynamic new brass section, featuring Luuanda Gogwana on trumpet, Sisonke Xonti on tenor saxophone, and Siya Charles on trombone.
Free transport from Khayelitsha, Nyanga and Gugulethu will be provided by the exciting new Pesto Princess Soul Bus.

The Parlotones, un nom qui vous est grandement pour ne pas dire totalement inconnu en France et en Europe.

Pourtant retenez  bien ce nom car ce groupe rock sud-africain fait un véritable tabac. Et devrait en tout logique connaître la même voie royale dans l'hémisphère nord.

Issu de Johannesburg en Afrique du Sud The Parlotones est composé de Kahn Morbee, Neil Pauw, Glenn Hodgson et Paul Hodgson. Un groupe qui en est déjà à son 3eme album Stardust Galaxies sorti en octobre 2009. Un 4ème est attendu pour 2010.

Le groupe de rock sud-africains The Parlotones se produira lors du concert de trois heures à l’occasion de l’ouverture de la coupe du monde de football en Afrique du Sud cet été dans le stade rénové Orlando au coeur de Soweto aux côtés de Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys, Shakira, John Legend… Une occasion unique de les découvrir... en attendant, un clip ci-dessous
